Wade leaning strongly toward Cavs

Veteran NBA All-Star Dwyane Wade is "leaning heavily" toward joining the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to a report from cleveland.com.

League sources have told AmicoHoops that Wade could potentially join the Cavs by the end of the week. He is set to clear waivers Wednesday following a contract buyout with the Chicago Bulls.

Other multiple news outlets have also reported the Cavs are the frontrunners for Wade.

Cleveland.com quoted an anonymous league source that said Wade "has no intention of going anywhere else," in reference to the Cavs.

Wade, 35, averaged 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 60 games with the Bulls last season. He is said to also be considering the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs. Oklahoma City star Paul George has also recruited Wade to join the Thunder.

But Thunder GM Sam Presti indicated Wade is likely to go somewhere else, telling reporters that "there's kind of an idea in advance where the player might be leaning toward or going to."

Cavs star LeBron James on Monday discussed the possibility of Wade joining the team.

“I would love to have D-Wade as a part of this team,” James said during media day. “I’ve talked to him throughout the summer. It’s up to him.”

The Cavs will have to waive or trade a player in order to make room on the roster for Wade.
