Warriors Make Draymond Green Announcement After Lakers Game

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is in his 13th NBA season. A four-time All-Star, four-time NBA champion and eight-time All-Defensive team member, Green is on his way to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

While it has been three years since Green was last named an All-Star, the 34-year-old forward remains a critical piece to Golden State's success. Owning an 18-16 record when Green plays this season, the Warriors are 4-7 when he does not.

Green has missed the last four games with a left calf strain, including Saturday's 118-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center.

Following this game, the Warriors provided an injury update on Green that revealed positive news.

"Warriors forward Draymond Green, who suffered a strained left calf on January 18 vs. Washington and has missed the last four (4) games, was recently re-evaluated," the Warriors wrote. "The re-evaluation indicated that Green is making good progress. He has been doing light on-court work and is expected to rejoin parts of team practices in the coming days. His status will be monitored day-to-day at that point."

Green has averaged 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 34 games this season. The Warriors have outscored opponents by 82 points in his 946 minutes played, which trails only his star teammate Steph Curry (+105) on the team.

At the time of his injury, Green was making 1.4 3-pointers per game, which ties his career-high set in 2015. Based on this announcement, it seems the Warriors could be getting their defensive anchor back soon.
