NBA Legend George Karl Mentions Spurs on Social Media

Hall of Fame head coach George Karl complimented the San Antonio Spurs on social media.

Despite his advanced age, George Karl is impressively active on social media. Karl spent 27 years as an NBA head coach. Karl made the 1996 NBA Finals as the head coach of the Seattle Supersonics, with Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp as the star players, where they ultimately lost to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls. Karl recently complimented the San Antonio Spurs on social media.

Karl knows a thing or two about properly rating a team. However, the head coach might have misinterpreted the question, or perhaps X (formerly known as Twitter) users are frankly being rude to an NBA legend.

An X user prompted a poll asking which is the best NBA team in Texas.

Karl quote-tweeted with, "Easy! Spurs…SA is one of the great basketball towns in the world!"

The response from the Hall of Fame head coach inspired social media trolls and flatly tacky X to retort with tweets not to be quoted. Regardless of the negative reactions toward Karl, you can interpret the question in two ways: who is the current best team in Texas or the best all time?

Of all time, the Spurs win that argument, with the Houston Rockets having a say. Although the Dallas Mavericks deserve mention as they are one of the better teams of the 21st century regarding regular season production and one NBA championship, the Spurs' sustained greatness outlasts their five-yeat playoff drought.

However, regarding which team is currently the best in Texas is easily the Mavericks, as they have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, as well as coming off an NBA Finals run.

One day, though, Victor Wembanyama will make the Spurs relevant again regarding playoff appearances, and hopefully NBA championships.
