Almost a month removed from Ja Morant appearing to flash a gun on an Instagram Live video, NBA fans are no closer to knowing what his fate will be for the 2023-24 season.

League commissioner Adam Silver announced last week that he would not levy a punishment in the midst of the NBA Finals. This leaves fans anxiously awaiting word on how much of next season- if any- Morant misses due to suspension.

For Morant's part, a member of his circle reportedly put forward the idea that Ja was holding a toy gun in the infamous video.

This rumor has reached Shannon Sharpe of Undisputed. To put it lightly, Sharpe isn't amused with this excuse.

"Here we are again," Sharpe began.

"Ja Morant refuses to accept accountability and responsibility for his actions. Again, it's somebody else. Somebody from the backseat passed up a toy gun. What grown-ass man you know plays with toy guns?"

Sharpe went on to underscore the severity of the situation by comparing Morant's excuse to the 2014 killing of Tamir Rice. The 12-year-old Rice was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer after being seen holding a toy gun. The killing sparked outrage and media coverage nationwide.

Shannon's point serves as a stark contrast to the idea that a toy gun is relatively harmless in the context of Morant's Instagram video. If this excuse is the best Morant has, Shannon Sharpe isn't buying it.
