Bronny James' Clear Message After Lakers G League Game
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, turned in his best performance at the professional level in Saturday's G League game against the San Diego Clippers. James scored 16 points in 21 minutes in the South Bay Lakers' 119-111 win.
This was a career-high in scoring for James, who had tallied just 10 total points in his previous two G League appearances. Sidelined for nearly one month with a left heel contusion, James was appearing in his first game action since Nov. 10 when the LA Lakers faced the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.
Following this game, James spoke with Raj Chipalu of ClutchPoints where he sent a clear message on his focus at the G League level.
"I think it's good," James said of his development. "Game by game trying to learn everything I can. Always just staying aggressive and playing my game. Playing for my teammates and coaches. It's been good so far."
While it can be difficult for a player to be unselfish in the G League, James was clear that his focus is on playing for his teammates and coaches. Spending a lot of time off the ball, James has tallied eight assists in 79 minutes with South Bay.
While James has yet to convert on a three-point basket in the NBA or G League (0 for 14), he has shown flashes of ability in transition and on the defensive end.
James also had four rebounds and two assists in Saturday's game.
The South Bay Lakers do not play another home game until Jan. 7 against the Delaware Blue Coats, so James will likely remain with the NBA team until then.
