LeBron James, Bronny James Hit With Reality Check After Lakers' First Game

The basketball world has been all over LeBron James and Bronny James making history with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night in their season-opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. After all, it's the first time a father-and-son duo has played together in an NBA game, which is an undeniably incredible accomplishment for both LeBron and his first-born son.

Not everyone is jumping on the bandwagon, though. For one, ESPN sportscaster Chris "Mad Dog" Russo has refused to buy in on the hype.

On Wednesday's episode of "First Take," the renowned sports commentator shared his brutally honest opinion on the matter as he hit the Jameses with a harsh reality check.

"Let's calm down," Russo started. "This might be fun for LeBron. Nobody in America cares that Bronny James played three minutes and grabbed one rebound at 11 o'clock at night in the (season) opener and this is supposed to be a moment that America is gonna resonate with? I mean, come on."

Russo made it clear that he's a fan of LeBron, Bronny and even new Lakers head coach JJ Redick, who made sure to give the 20-year-old rookie his first taste of game action on Tuesday night.

However, Russo's issue lies with the notion that everyone's making such a "big deal" out of this.

"You can make the argument that the Lakers got Bronny to begin with to energize LeBron," he argued. "Sorry folks, I ain't buying it."

According to Russo, he just can't fathom the fact that this is supposed to be the "greatest moment in professional sports."

As they always say, you can't please them all.

The Lakers secured the victory in this momentous evening as they took down the Wolves, 110-103.
