If you thought NBA offseasons couldn't get any more dramatic, you were wrong. Today's biggest story in the hoops world involves none other than pop icon Britney Spears. 

Spears has filed a police report alleging she was backhanded by a security team member protecting the NBA's No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft: Victor Wembanyama

Spears reportedly approached Wembanyama to get a photo and went to tap him on the shoulder. It was at that moment that a security member allegedly assaulted her. That individual has been identified. 

Damian Smith is the man believed to have allegedly assaulted Spears. Smith is the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs, per TMZ Sports. 

Given he's the head of security for an NBA team, he probably has plenty of leeway here. If Smith feels like he needed to backhand Britney Spears to protect Victor Wembanyama, then Spears probably doesn't have much of a case. 

Still, it's sad the situation had to come to this. Spears clearly just wanted a moment with Wembanyama because she's a fan.
