Knicks Fall to Luka Doncic-Less Mavericks in Blowout Loss
The New York Knicks looked to beat the short-handed Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday, but fate had other plans. Despite Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns' efforts, it wasn't enough. Thanks to an ice-cold first half, the Mavericks soundly beat the Knicks
New York's second-ranked offensive rating came into question as it began the game shooting 19 percent from the field and an abysmal 0-7 from 3 in the opening quarter. The Mavericks' defense shellshocked the Knicks, who were last seen stomping the Denver Nuggets 145-118 on Monday.
Without Luka Doncic, the Mavericks crushed the Knicks. Even when the Knicks made a run in the third quarter, the Mavericks swiftly responded. Due to the poor first half, the contest was an uphill battle, and the Knicks couldn't conquer such a mountain. Perhaps they still had the Colorado altitude in their system.
Jalen Brunson led the game with 37 points, as he attempted a late-game push. However, it was too late, as the Mavericks had six players score double figures.
Naji Marshall led the Mavericks in scoring with 24 points on 10-17 mark from the field.
The Knicks play at the Charlotte Hornets on Friday as part of the NBA Cup.
