Samuel Cosmi Draft Profile
Cosmi looks the part and then some, as he started to unlock his immense potential as a junior. His blend of length and athleticism is exactly what you look for in an NFL tackle — he has long arms, and he has some twitch and suddenness in his movements. In pass protection, his nimble feet allow him to mirror defenders and square up. He flashes the ability to get out into space in the run game, and when his pad level is right, he can drive defenders back at the point of attack. He plays with a nasty edge and will consistently finish off blocks.
The biggest concern with Cosmi is whether or not he’s ready to deal with “grown-man strength” at the next level. He had trouble anchoring against speed-to-power rushers at times at the collegiate level. Overall, he has to polish his technique — his handwork is inconsistent, and it leads to balance issues in pass protection.
There’s a little bit of work to do, but there’s also tremendous upside, and Cosmi’s frame isn’t done filling out. His ceiling is as high as any linemen in this draft outside of Penei Sewell.
