2022 NFL Draft: Quarterback Rankings

Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh Panthers, 2022 NFL Draft

Kenny Pickett headlines this year's crop of quarterbacks

Don't expect a repeat this year when it comes to quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft. For one, a quarterback will not be taken No. 1 overall for the fifth straight year since Jacksonville has the honor again this year and took Trevor Lawrence in 2021.

And it's highly unlikely five signal-callers will go when the first round takes place on April 28, which is what happened in last year's draft. While opinions vary, it appears that this year's quarterback crop is not viewed in the same vein as the 2021 class. Only three received a first-round grade from Athlon Sports, but that doesn't mean one or more still won't hear their name called by commissioner Roger Goodell as they are plenty of QB-needy teams out there.

As part of Athlon Sports' 2022 NFL Draft Guide, we have ranked each position, including 20 quarterbacks. Kenny Pickett leads the way followed by Matt Corral and Malik Willis. Sam Howell, Desmond Ridder, and Carson Strong are only the other signal-callers among Athlon's top 100 prospects in this year's draft.

But don't worry, there's usually a surprise or two when it comes to the draft and this position, so here are some other quarterbacks you should become familiar with, especially if your favorite NFL team needs some fresh blood at the position.
