This Friday night, preseason football returns to the Bay Area when the San Francisco 49ers host the Green Bay Packers. The NFC West franchise has an official quarterback plan for the game.

Kyle Shanahan announced this Tuesday morning that Trey Lance will get the start. He won't be the team's only starter out on the field, though.

The 49ers' entire starting offense will be out on the field to start the game for the Packers. The team's clearly trying to help the offense form stronger chemistry ahead of the 2022 season.

"Shanahan says the first-team 49ers offense will play this Friday against the Packers. The plan is for Trey Lance to play in Games 1 and 3 of the preseason," said David Lombardi.

As it's unlikely Trey Lance plays the entire game, the 49ers should also get a look at backups Nate Sudfeld and Brock Purdy. Preseason will be a good time for the Niners to get their entire quarterback situation figured out.

Meanwhile, it's still unclear if Jimmy Garoppolo will travel with the team or not. He's still listed on the depth chart as a fourth-stringer, but the team has held him out of practice to avoid the risk of injury.

The 49ers host the Packers this Friday night at 8:30 p.m. ET.
