49ers Defensive Coordinator Has High Praise For Los Angeles Rams Star

After a record-breaking 2021 season, NFL defenses are still trying to figure out how to contain Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.

While speaking to the media today, San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans told reporters that the 2022 Rams' offense remains "the Cooper Kupp Show."

"It’s always the Cooper Kupp Show. That hasn’t changed the past couple weeks. You find a way to get him the ball and he’ll make a play," DeMeco Ryans said according to Cam Inman Thursday.

Kupp, who led the league in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16) in 2021, has continued to cause headaches for opposing defenses this season.

Though not exactly on the same record-breaking pace as last season, Kupp is still posting elite receiving numbers this year. Through six games in 2022, Kupp ranks second in receptions (56), sixth in touchdowns (4), and fifth in receiving yards (607).

San Francisco witnessed firsthand what Kupp could do if left unchecked, as the Rams' receiver caught 14 balls for 122 yards in the first matchup between the teams this season in Week 4.

While the 49ers won that matchup, they'll hope to limit Kupp further in their upcoming battle this Sunday in Los Angeles.
