The San Francisco 49ers will be without one of their top weapons when they face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
The team announced Friday that do-everything wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been ruled out for the matchup due to a hamstring injury.
"The 49ers rule out WR Deebo Samuel (hamstring) for Sunday's game vs. the Rams," NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport tweeted.
Samuel is a significant loss — even for an offense that recently added star running back Christian McCaffrey.
Samuel leads the 49ers in receptions and ranks second on the team in rushing this season. He has accumulated 525 yards and three touchdowns through seven games.
Samuel had six catches for 115 yards and a score in the 49ers' 24-9 win over the Rams in Week Four.
The absence of Samuel figures to mean more involvement for McCaffrey in his second game with the 49ers. McCaffrey, who was traded to San Francisco from the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 20, played 23 snaps and touched the ball 10 times in the 49ers' loss to the Kansas City Chiefs last week.
Samuel isn't the only player on the 49ers offense who will be sidelined this week, as the team announced fullback Kyle Juszczyk is out as well.
