While appearing as a guest on the Pat McAfee Show this afternoon, Aaron Rodgers hoped to hear good news related to a potential Packers' trade deadline acquisition.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, another NFC North team swooped in and beat Green Bay to the punch.
In a move reported earlier today, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded receiver Chase Claypool to the Chicago Bears, who apparently sent a better offer than the Packers to Pittsburgh.
“I was kinda hoping there might be some (trade) news during this show we can break.… Not surprised to hear we were in on (Chase) Claypool and we’ll see what happens," Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show, according to Rob Demovsky.
The Packers have been linked to several wide receivers, which included Claypool, ahead of the fast-approaching trade deadline.
Two of Green Bay's top receiving options, Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard, have been sidelined by injuries over the past few weeks, furthering their need for a outside playmaker.
Now, with the former Steeler moving into the same division as Rodgers, the pressure is on the Packers to make a move.
Green Bay will travel to Detroit in Week 9 as they travel to take on the Lions.
