Patrick Mahomes had quite the injury scare during training camp this Monday. The Chiefs superstar quarterback hobbled off the field during the practice and was later seen meeting with the team's medical staff.
It appeared to be an ankle/foot issue. The good news is Mahomes later returned to practice and finished with the team.
"Patrick Mahomes briefly went to medical tent after 11-on-11 drill where pocket collapsed with DL pressure. Mahomes stayed on his feet then but might’ve misplaced a step. Came out of medical tent with tape around his left ankle. Mahomes went back in for QBs’ final drills of day," Jesse Newell tweeted.
Andy Reid later offered an injury update for Mahomes and had nothing but good news to share.
“He got stepped on. He’s OK," said Reid.
Anyone who's played football knows getting stepped on by a cleat is never fun. Patrick Mahomes is going to feel that one tomorrow morning.
Mahomes has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the past year or so. But as long as he stays healthy, the Chiefs should be in good shape to return to the playoffs this upcoming season.
