Atlanta is reportedly cutting ties with a defensive lineman they'd hoped could complement star pass rusher Grady Jarrett.
In a move announced by Ari Meirov this afternoon, the Falcons released defensive end/tackle Marlon Davidson, a second-round pick for the team back in 2020.
"The #Falcons have released DL Marlon Davidson, who was their second-round pick in 2020," Meirov tweeted Tuesday.
Davidson, the 47th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has struggled to stay healthy throughout his young career.
On the injured reserve for Atlanta before his release, Davidson also suffered from injuries during his rookie season and 2021 campaign for the Falcons. He only played in eight total games his rookie year and underwent left knee surgery after the season.
Davidson played 11 games for Atlanta in 2021, but was largely ineffective and appeared to be hampered by an ankle injury throughout the season. In his 19 career games for the Falcons, Davidson only started one.
Atlanta, 3-4, will host the Carolina Panthers this Sunday in an NFC South showdown.
