Earlier this week, disciplinary officer Judge Sue L. Robinson decided on a punishment for Deshaun Watson. The new Browns quarterback will be suspended for the first six games of the 2022 season.
That means Browns backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett becomes the team's temporary starting quarterback. He'll run the Cleveland offense in Weeks 1 through 6.
This isn't anything new for Brissett. He's taken over for a number of other quarterbacks throughout his career and is ready for the challenge.
"It's been my situation throughout my career," Brissett said Tuesday, via ESPN.com. "Nothing that I'm unfamiliar with. Always been ready to go, whenever my number's called and that's the case at this point now."
He added, "Since I've been in this league, it's been the next man up. So that experience obviously helps with not only the playing, but also like the mindset of understanding -- you gotta be ready whenever your number is called."
In regards to Deshaun Watson's situation, Jacoby Brissett wants to give him privacy and is refusing to discuss it.
"I feel that is Deshaun's business," Brissett said, "and I would like to stay out of that."
Brissett has plenty of experience filling in for starting quarterbacks throughout his NFL career. He has a huge opportunity to begin the 2022 season with a few wins until Watson returns.
