The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without an important defensive lineman tonight on Thursday Night Football.
As reported by Mike Garafolo this morning, Buccaneers' defensive tackle Akiem Hicks has been ruled out of tonight's game against the Ravens after being limited in practice this week with a foot injury.
"The #Buccaneers have downgraded DT Akiem Hicks (foot) to out. He was limited all week but just not ready to go," Garafolo tweeted Thursday morning.
Hicks, a 2018 Pro Bowl selection for the Chicago Bears, hasn't seen the field since Tampa Bay's Week 2 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
The defensive lineman joins six other Tampa Bay players who will be out this week, including wide receiver Russell Gage, tight end Cameron Brate offensive lineman Luke Goedeke, and defensive backs Carlton Davis, Sean Murphy-Bunting, and Antoine Winfield.
Hicks' absence in the interior of the Buccaneers defense could spell trouble for Tampa Bay Thursday, as they face a Baltimore team currently ranked fifth-best in the league in rushing yards per game (156.3).
The Buccaneers will need to slow down Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore rushing attack tonight if they have plans to snap their current two-game losing streak.
