The loss of Rob Gronkowski can't be overstated for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this off-season. Not only was the all-time great highly productive for the Bucs last season; his energy around the team and overall personality is going to be greatly missed.
Tampa Bay still has a veteran tight end on the roster in Cameron Brate, though. And he's going to try and fill the massive shoes left behind by Gronkowski.
With that being said, Brate and his teammates are going to miss Gronkowski greatly this upcoming season.
“Obviously, I’m not the same player as Rob — people just bounce off of Rob," he said, via Pro Football Talk. "When I get hit, I get hit hard — it’s not the same for me. But, just being around him, trying to soak up as much as I could from his game, it was awesome, and we’ll definitely miss him this year. But I’ll try to teach some of these young guys some of the stuff I’ve picked up from him.”
Brate has another veteran tight end teammate to work with in Kyle Rudolph. The Bucs signed the free agent during the off-season.
The two will have the responsibility of trying to replicate Gronkowski's 2021 production; a difficult task for any player.
