Bills Free Agent Departures Make Buffalo Big Roster Winners
Back during the 2024 offseason, the Buffalo Bills lost plenty of key starters along their roster for a number of different reasons.
This entire season was meant to be something of a bridge for the Bills, but their 9-2 mark has swapped their expectations over the last few months. Making things even better over the last few months is that the same free agents lost by the team haven't exactly worked out in their new places.
Let's look at some of those players here.
Diggs was traded away by Buffalo to the Houston Texans early in the offseason and appeared to be making the most of his new opportunity. Diggs had caught 47 passes for 496 yards and six touchdowns in the first eight games before tearing his ACL in his final game of the year for Houston. While he didn't struggle nearly as badly as some others on this list, his injury is a major issue for his career moving forward.
Micah Hyde
Hyde has yet to decide whether he wants to retire or not after not signing an extension with the Bills. He did say he didn't want to play for another team outside of Buffalo, but it appears that the Bills aren't exactly rolling out the red carpet for him.
Jordan Poyer
Poyer joined the Dolphins in an attempt to help their end own playoff struggles after a seven-year run in Buffalo. Through his first year in Miami, Poyer has recorded 69 tackles while struggling overall for a defense that has taken a major step back with the veteran potentially being benched.
Gabe Davis
Davis signed a three-year, $39 million deal with the Jaguars after a strong run with the Bills. So far, he's caught just 20 passes for 239 yards, and two touchdowns. All those would be career lows for the Central Florida product.
Leonard Floyd
Despite a 10-sack season in 2024, Floyd walked in free agency to join the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. While he's had a solid 6.5 sacks this season, San Fran has been maddingly inconsistent this year and could miss the playoffs entirely.
