Bills Coach Reveals One Big Problem In Unusual Loss
The Buffalo Bills' 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams will sting for a host of reasons, but one might be the offense getting away from what has made it such an imposing force this season.
Usually, a complementary offense that sees Josh Allen pick and choose his spots, along with James Cook running the football, against L.A., Cook had just six carries, while rookie Ray Davis, after a 63-yard, one-touchdown game against the San Francisco 49ers last week, didn't have a carry.
For offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Davis is too good not to feature in the scheme.
“He should be getting touches,” Brady said, revealing maybe the one big problem in the unusual loss. “I think his first carry was going to be play 31, and that can't happen. He's too good of a running back to not get some touches. Some of that was the way the game was getting played early on, might have passed the ball a little too much. I felt like there were some advantageous looks in the pass game, but at the same time, we got to stay two-dimensional and not just getting pass heavy in those situations.”

Granted, when you have a quarterback like Josh Allen, there can be a tendency to want to throw the ball all over the yard, but Buffalo has been an offense that runs as good as it passes, but against the Rams, the run game was non-existent.
While Allen as the leading "rusher" is nothing new, but his 10 carries to Cook's six, and for the Bills, that isn't a recipe for winning in 2024.
At least Brady knows where things went wrong against the Rams and can rectify them before the playoffs start. If the Bills are to make it to the Super Bowl and win it, Allen can't be Superman; he needs a run game to fall back on.
And that was highlighted in the loss to L.A.
