Jim Nantz Receives Special Gift From Josh Allen, Bills Before 500th NFL Game
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will begin their postseason run on Sunday when they take on the Denver Broncos in their wild-card round matchup. While the game is a big one for Allen and the Bills, it's also a big one for CBS play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz, who will be on the call for this contest alongside Tony Romo.
Nantz, who has been working with CBS Sports for 40 years now, has been the network's top play-by-play announcer for NFL games for several decades now. As a result, he's seen a lot of football, and it was revealed ahead of this game that the Bills-Broncos matchup would be the 500th NFL game he's called in his illustrious career.
This big achievement was not lost on football fans, and it was something Buffalo picked up on during their preparation for this game. With that in mind, Allen and the team presented Nantz with a special football commemorating this accomplishment during their pregame production meeting.
"Legendary. Congrats to Jim Nantz on calling his 500th NFL game this Sunday!" the Bills said in a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.
While the games themselves get the attention for the most part, Nantz has been a guiding voice for football fans who have tuned into CBS' broadcasts of NFL games for years now. And at 65 years old and soon to be 500 games, he's still going strong and has shown no signs of slowing down.
Nantz has called some legendary games throughout his career, and he will be hoping that Buffalo's clash with Denver is able to live up to the hype. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m. EST, with the winner advancing to the divisional round of the 2024 NFL playoffs.
