Calls Escalate for Roger Goodell to Make Changes Following Chiefs-Falcons Game
After upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in Week 2, the Atlanta Falcons were looking to get their second straight upset over another top team: the Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs. Through halftime, it appeared they might do just that; they led 14-13.
But Mahomes and the Chiefs offense caught fire in the third quarter, quickly making it a 22-14 game heading into the fourth. Even so, the Falcons hung in until the end, eventually falling short after a missed opportunity to Kyle Pitts in the end zone.
That play to Pitts, however, caused a number of fans to lash out at the officiating crew. There was a great deal of contact by Chiefs defender Bryan Cook that wasn't flagged. A defensive pass interference call would have put the Falcons on the 1-yard line with four chances at the end zone.
"It's horrible how NFL officiating is so blatant on no calls on the Chiefs," one fan said, with another adding "if that's (Chiefs tight end Travis) Kelce, three flags are flying in."
Another fan tied this no-call to the questionable decision last week against the Bengals, saying, "And what happened last week? Chiefs got that exact call. They aren’t even hiding it anymore."
One fan even went as far as to say, "The NFL has almost become unwatchable."
Fans have been consistent in wanting to see the NFL make a change with how they officiated Chiefs games, as there has been a pattern of calls going in KC's favor.
This isn't to discredit Kansas City, but it's hard not to notice the trend.
