BREAKING: Panthers Sign LB Deion Jones

Carolina adds depth to the linebacking unit.

Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Frank Reich have openly admitted on several occasions that they will continue to find ways to improve the roster, as they should.

Monday afternoon, the Panthers got a little better with the signing of veteran free agent linebacker Deion Jones, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Jones, a former 2016 2nd round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons, will do more than add depth to the Panthers' linebacker unit. He will compete for a starting spot. He's primarily played inside in his NFL career, but does have some experience on the outside.

During his six seasons in Atlanta, Jones recorded 652 tackles,, 46 tackles for loss, 44 pass breakups, 20 QB hits, 11 interceptions, 8.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. He spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns where he posted 44 tackles, six tackles for loss, three QB hits, and 2.5 sacks in 11 games (five starts).
