Bears Make Decision On Caleb Williams After Early Season Struggles
On Monday, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus revealed the team's plans for Caleb Williams after the rookie quarterback's recent struggles.
The Bears' offense has scored just 27 points in their last three games, all of which have been losses. Chicago has a 4-5 record entering their Week 11 contest with the Green Bay Packers.
Following the Bears' 19-3 loss at Soldier Field to the New England Patriots on Sunday, Eberflus said Chicago would look at making changes to help the team win.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter said he believed the Bears would discuss everything from removing the play-calling duties from first-year offensive coordinator Shane Waldron to benching Williams.
Per the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Eberflus confirmed during his press conference Monday that the Bears would keep Williams as the starting quarterback in Week 11.
Williams, the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft, is 178-of-294 passing for 1,785 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions through his first nine games in the league. He has thrown no touchdowns or interceptions in his last three games.
Williams has been sacked 15 times in the Bears last two games. He was sacked nine times in the loss to the Patriots. The Heisman Trophy winner went 16-of-30 for 120 yards passing against the Patriots.
Things were looking up for the Bears during their bye in Week 7. Williams threw four touchdowns and one interception in Chicago's 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England on Oct. 13.
