The Cincinnati Bengals have received crushing injury news this Tuesday afternoon. A key member of the team's defense has reportedly suffered a significant injury. That player is D.J. Reader.
D.J. Reader, the team's star defensive tackle, suffered a knee injury against the New York Jets on Sunday. The initial tests reportedly indicate he will not be back anytime soon.
The good news is the injury isn't believed to be season ending. So if the Bengals make the postseason, the idea is that Reader could be back by then.
However, the Bengals' star defensive tackle is going to miss some time. A significant development out in Cincinnati.
"Significant Bengals news: The initial tests reveal that DJ Reader, who suffered a knee injury against NYJ, will not be back anytime soon. It is not expected to be a season-ender, but the Bengals will be without their star nose tackle for an extended period of time, per source," said Kelsey Conway.
An unfortunate development for the Bengals. Hopefully D.J. Reader returns later this season.
The Bengals, meanwhile, won their first game of the 2022 season on Sunday.
This Thursday night Cincinnati will try and make it two straight when it takes on the Dolphins of Miami.
