The Cincinnati Bengals are 0-8, acknowledging attempts to win this year are futile, so they are turning to evaluating young players. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network is reporting the team will put rookie Ryan Finley in at quarterback this week.

Finley, selected in the fourth round in the 2019 NFL Draft, was effective in preseason and the Bengals are on a collision course with a top three pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, so they need to determine if they are in the market for a quarterback or a position player. The overwhelming favorite for latter being Chase Young, the phenomenal pass rusher out of Ohio State, who is being talked about as being on the level of Myles Garrett; some believe he's better.

The timing of this does not feel coincidental and the team could theoretically trade veteran quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton struggled behind a dismal offensive line, isn't going to be re-signed after this season and could help another team. Teams like the Chicago Bears could be in the market for a quarterback and the Bengals could get an asset they can use to build in the future.

The Bears are considered the most logical fit as Mitchell Trubisky can't play dead and their once promising season is on the brink of disaster with plenty of fingers being pointed at both the head coach Matt Nagy as well as general manager Ryan Pace. This could perhaps breathe new life into their chances this year.

The Bengals are currently on their bye week and will host the Baltimore Ravens next week followed by traveling to Oakland Raiders and then hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers.
