How Many Cleveland Browns' Primetime Games Could Be Flexed?
As things currently stand, the Cleveland Browns' regular season schedule will include four primetime games. However, the NFL can flex games at its discretion as long as they are in accordance with the league's protocols, which means the Browns could end up with more or less.
The newest addition to the NFL's flexing rules was to allow their two-weekday games to be flexed out of those days entirely that started last season. Considering that three of the Browns' four primetime games will be broadcast on either ESPN's Monday Night Football or Amazon Prime's Thursday Night Football, it could affect them—but by how much?
As revealed in a tweet from Rene Bugner, the Browns are currently at risk of having two primetime games moved.
The first could come in Week 13 when the Browns travel to Empower Field at Mile High to face the Denver Broncos on Monday night. The league can flex games off of Monday from Weeks 12-17 thanks to last season's rule.
Fast-forward to Week 16 and Cleveland's Thursday night showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals can also be moved. Then, the Browns' Week 17 clash with the Miami Dolphins is their final primetime game of the season, as currently scheduled, and could also be moved out of its current Sunday Night Football slot.
That leaves just the Week 12 game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers as the Browns' only primetime that isn't at risk of being changed. However, just because the game times can be changed doesn't mean they will.
Considering the Browns' games at risk of being moved will see them face two potential playoff contenders, the Bengals and the Dolphins, it seems entirely possible that Cleveland will end up having more than just four games under the lights this coming season. That is if everything goes according to plan for the Browns,
