The Colts are entering a new era, replacing Carson Wentz with the veteran and proven Matt Ryan. Fans will get a first-look at the longtime NFL quarterback in the blue and white this Saturday afternoon.
The Colts have announced the official quarterback plan for their preseason opener. Matt Ryan will be playing the entire first quarter as the team attempts to build chemistry on the offensive side of the football.
Indianapolis takes on the Buffalo Bills on Saturday afternoon.
"Colts’ HC Frank Reich said QB Matt Ryan will play the first quarter of Indianapolis’ preseason opener," wrote Adam Schefter.
Once Matt Ryan exits after the first quarterback, the Colts will turn to another veteran in Nick Foles. After that, Sam Ehlinger and Jack Coan are expected to get some playing time.
Ryan's first quarter with his new team is important. It allows him to develop trust with his teammates and hopefully build some confidence. If the offense comes out flat and has little success, Ryan and the Colts will have some things to work through in practice.
