What's Cowboys' Micah Parsons' Message To Tyler Guyton? 'You Can Go Against Anybody!'
It was billed as a baptism of fire for Dallas Cowboys rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton, going against Myles Garrett and a stout Cleveland Browns defense, but the former Oklahoma Sooner acquitted himself well on the road.
With Garrett only getting the better of Guyton once, in which he blew past the rookie and forced a fumble, other than that, Tyler more than held his one on the big stage.
Having gone against Micah Parsons all training camp perhaps put Guyton in good stead for his battle with Garrett, and Micah revealed a post-game conversation he had with the rookie tackle.
“I said how was it [going against Garrett], he was like, he was good,” Parsons said. “I was like what you think of him, he's like he's just so freaky, he's fast strong, I was like he can do everything, and I was like you got the two bests out your way, he's like what you mean, like me and Myles, [now] you can go against anybody.
"You're getting the good ones out the way.”
Micah's words ring true: if Guyton can hold his own against the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and Parsons, there isn't a pass rusher the left tackle should fear.
Of course, there will be times that Guyton gets beat—that's just the nature of the game. But as he did against Garrett, once the fumble happened, Tyler flushed it and got back to work, negating Garrett's influence whenever he was lined up across from him.
It was a solid enough performance from Guyton in his debut, and now he must build on that against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, and we doubt that he will be feeling the nerves ahead of kickoff.
Why? Because he's already gotten invaluable experience in going against Parsons and Garrett.
