Darius Slay and ex-Lions head coach Matt Patricia had a rocky relationship during their time together in Detroit.

Infamously traded to the Eagles during Patricia's tenure as Lions coach, the five-time Pro Bowl cornerback this week suggests the pair's relationship is on the mend.

It seems both a call from the Eagles and a talk with Patricia himself this offseason is to thank for that.

"We talked about it during the offseason,” Slay told NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com. “[The Eagles] called me, and I was like, ‘It’s cool with me because I want to do what’s best for the organization.'"

"Me and him talked man to man... He’s a man, I’m a man, so we just handled it."

The Eagles hired Patricia back in the spring to be the team's senior defensive assistant.

According to Slay, both he and Patricia remain focused on the same goal.

"We both want to win, he’s here to help me get better, he wants to get better as a coach, so we’re in good hands right now," Slay said.

The Eagles will open up the 2023 season on the road against the Patriots on September 10.
