A long and turbulent offseason for Deebo Samuel and the San Francisco 49ers has finally come to an end. The two sides reached a deal over the weekend.
Samuel has reportedly signed a three-year extension with the 49ers. The contract is worth $71.55 million and has $58.1 million guaranteed.
The 49ers got the job done and made sure Samuel got paid. He will be vital to the team's success this upcoming season, especially with a new starting quarterback in Trey Lance taking over.
So much for all that offseason drama.
At one point during the offseason, Deebo Samuel had the NFL world in flames after he scrubbed everything Niners-related from his social media platforms. But it was a clear negotiating tactic on his part.
Samuel simply wanted to send a message to San Francisco's front office. Message received.
Kyle Shanahan is well aware Samuel is vital to his team's offensive success. Losing a player of his caliber would be a devastating setback for a team aspiring to reach a third NFC Championship in four seasons.
Expect big things out of Samuel and the 49ers offense later this fall.
