It looks like Tua Tagovailoa is not close to returning for the Miami Dolphins.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel announced this Wednesday morning that Tagovailoa will not play or be active for Week 6 this Sunday.
To make matters worse, the Alabama product hasn't even been on the field in two weeks.
With that being said, Tagovailoa will begin practicing again on Wednesday; a significant step for the third-year quarterback.
"Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel says he can say with certainty Tua Tagovailoa will not play or be active Sunday vs. Vikings. Tua hasn’t been on field in two weeks, per McDaniel. Tua will practice, throw and do individual drills today," said Cameron Wolfe.
McDaniel adds that the earliest Tua Tagovailoa will return is Week 7 vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will first need to clear concussion protocol and then get back to himself during practice.
Mike McDaniel says most important thing for Tua Tagovailoa is taking next step throwing & his on-field positivity around team. No firm return timeline. McDaniel said it’s possible Tua clears protocol by Sun but won’t play. Earliest possible Tua return is Week 7 SNF vs Steelers.
The Dolphins play the Vikings of Minnesota on Sunday.
