Dolphins Released Veteran Defensive Tackle Due To Failed Physical

The Miami Dolphins were hoping for big things out of veteran defensive tackle Adam Butler this upcoming season. However, he won't take a single snap for the AFC East franchise later this fall.

Just moments ago, the Dolphins announced they have cut veteran defensive tackle Adam Butler. He reportedly failed his physical and, as a result, can't play for Miami.

A troublesome update for both Butler and the Dolphins.

"The Dolphins have released DT Adam Butler with a failed physical designation," said NFL insider Field Yates.

Adam Butler is entering his sixth season in the NFL. He spent his first four with the New England Patriots and fifth in Miami. During that time he has 113 total tackles, 17 sacks and 22 tackles for loss.

The Dolphins were expected Butler to be a significant contributor for their defense this upcoming season. They'll now have to readjust and find more defensive line depth in the free-agent market.
