Trevor Lawrence's Week 13 defeat to the Detroit Lions was one to forget. Lawrence couldn't get offense consistently going in the 40-14 loss, and worse yet it appears he suffered an injury in the game.
Team coach Doug Pederson told Ian Rapoport that Lawrence suffered a foot injury resulting from a "scary hit" during the game.
The QB is considered day-to-day, with his Week 14 status uncertain.
Multiple reports later added that Lawrence will not practice today. The injuring hit was inflicted by James Houston, a former Jackson State Tiger playing in his first NFL season. We've embedded a video of the tackle below.
Coach Pederson would mention to reporters that Lawrence is "progressing in the right direction" after receiving consistent treatment. Despite this, there's clearly no reason to rush the former first overall draft pick back to the field.
At 4-8, the Jaguars don't have a postseason berth to worry about. And the only thing worse than the injury Lawrence suffered in Week 13 would be a serious setback suffered as a result of it.
If the Jags opt to rest Lawrence, expect to see former San Francisco 49er C.J. Beathard start in Trevor's stead.
