Fantasy Football 2013 Wide Receiver Rankings: Week 6

Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant played a big role in Tony Romo's 500-yard game last week, and the Cowboys' No. 1 target finds himself in the same position on Athlon Sports' fantasy football Week 6 wide receiver rankings. Bryant had 141 yards receiving and two touchdowns against Denver and next up is a Washington pass defense that's allowing nearly 300 yards per game.

Part of the reason Bryant is No. 1 in these rankings is because of the uncertainty surrounding Calvin Johnson's playing status. Johnson was a surprise late scratch last week against Green Bay because of a knee injury. While details about the injury remain sparse, it's looking like Megatron could end up being the dreaded game-time decision, unless the team addresses his situation sooner. Either way, there's enough here to be concerned about his availability, as well as his production should be play against Cleveland, which is why Johnson fell, all the way to No. 5. After all, if Megatron doesn't play it's not like you are just going to be able to replace him, right?

As far as those wide receivers who we know will play this week, look no further than Denver for some appealing options. Yes, that means Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Eric Decker for the Broncos, but don't forget about the other team in this game. Jacksonville is a historic, 28-point underdog on the road and everyone knows why. However, the Broncos are last in the league in passing defense, which is what happens when you give up 506 yards and five touchdowns. Chad Henne, who is expected to start in place of an injured Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is no Tony Romo, but he's had some big games of his own in the past (354-4-0 vs. Texans and 348-1-3 vs. Patriots last season). And, more importantly, he has Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon as his wide receivers. While their numbers may not show it, these two are legitimate, dynamic weapons in their own right, who, if given the opportunity, are just as capable of doing what Bryant (7-141-2) and Cowboys rookie Terrance Williams (4-151-1) did last week to the Broncos' defense.

Each week during the NFL season, we will rank enough players at each position to appease everyone from those in 8-team leagues to 16-team leagues, those that can start two QBs, two TEs, three RBs and four WRs. We cut out the rest, because if you're looking at who the 50th-best running back or the 17th-best kicker is for that week, you need more help than any website can give you.
