Fantasy Football Week 11 Injury Updates: Julian Edelman, Jordan Matthews, Jarvis Landry, Robert Woods

Jarvis Landry

Jarvis Landry

As has been the case for most of this fantasy season, wide receivers make up the majority of the injury report for Week 11. Add to that four teams on bye and it may be another tough week for owners to find enough serviceable starting options.

It’s critical that you make your sure the wide receivers you are planning on using are active. Those wideouts already ruled out include Jeremy Maclin, Chris Hogan, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Markus Wheaton. Also, this is just part of the wide receiver story. You can find the lowdown on the primetime games here. Be sure to check on the running backs before setting your lineup too.

Julian Edelman (foot), WR, New England Patriots at San Francisco 49ers, 4:25 p.m.

Edelman is a constant on the injury report, but he will certainly play on Sunday, and should be a focal point of the offense. Rob Gronkowski and Chris Hogan have been ruled out, but Tom Brady still figures to be able to put up big numbers against a suspect 49ers defense. One of his favorite targets has always been Edelman, who had seven grabs for 99 yards last Sunday against Seattle. For Week 11 he’s a high WR2 in PPR formats and a low WR2 in standard. Martellus Bennett also was listed as limited in practice this week, but he will play on Sunday as a TE1.

Jordan Matthews (back), WR, Philadelphia Eagles at Seattle Seahawks, 4:25 p.m.

With a full practice on Friday, Matthews should play on Sunday. He took a hard hit in Week 10 and suffered from back spasms throughout the week. He did not practice on Wednesday but did return to limited practice on Thursday. He only has three touchdowns this year, and the Seahawks have a tough secondary. Matthews is a WR2 for Week 11.

Jarvis Landry (shoulder), WR, Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams, 4:05 p.m.

With a full practice on Friday, Landry is on track to play later today. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury, but has been playing through it (albeit not well). He’s posted double-digit receptions just once so far this season (Week 2). He's only had two 100-yard games (Weeks 2, 3) and he has one touchdown. The Rams’ defense is solid, and this game has potential to be another 9-6 barnburner. Landry is only a WR3. He'll play, but the shoulder injury seems to be hampering him more than he will let on.

Robert Woods (foot), WR, Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals, 1 p.m.

Woods is coming off a Week 10 bye, but he was still limited in practice on Wednesday. He should be fine to play, however. The Bengals’ pass defense is actually quite good. Cincinnati did allow touchdowns to two different Giants receivers last week, and Woods has been the leading receiver for the Bills. He had 10 receptions for 162 yards against Seattle in Week 9. However, the return of Percy Harvin may cut into Woods receptions. Woods will play but is just a WR3.

Eddie Royal (toe), WR, Chicago Bears at New York Giants, 1 p.m.

With Alshon Jeffery out for the next four games, Jay Cutler is going to have to find someone to throw the ball to. While Cameron Meredith seems like the next man up, Cutler seems to have an aversion to throw the ball to him. A receiver he is comfortable with, however, is Royal. Royal didn't have a great showing in Week 10, but he should step up as a WR3 in Week 11. Also note that Marquess Wilson (foot) has been activated off the PUP list and should play. He's worth adding in deeper leagues but is not worth starting just yet.
