It’s finally here, the week you all have been waiting for since the fantasy season started – Championship Week! Oh and it’s the week before Christmas too. Thanks to a full slate of Week 16 NFL action, many of us will be having an extra-special weekend or it could end up being a disappointing one, at least from a fantasy perspective.
Then again, if your team is still playing for something, you should feel pretty good. A championship, runner-up showing or even third place is nothing to scoff at. Especially when there is money involved.
Last week if you had Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, A.J. Green or Jordy Nelson in your lineup, there’s a chance that you may not be playing this week. All four studs disappointed their owners, although Green was somewhat expected because of his matchup (at Minnesota).
Either way Week 15 was a painful reminder to many that fantasy football can truly be unpredictable. I myself felt defeated after Kareem Hunt’s (above, right) explosion Thursday night only to have Todd Gurley surpass him with a bigger day. I would like to call it all skill, but let’s be real now.
This week unless you have an injury like Brown that could change the entire foundation of your team your lineup is likely already set. But just in case, you can find your usual positional rankings at AthlonSports.com, including flex.
Le’Veon Bell sits on top once again, and should bless his owners with an even bigger week with Brown sidelined. The triumphant return of Ezekiel Elliott may have owners excited if they somehow managed to make the championship game. Dak Prescott may be a solid play this week with Elliott back as well.
Gurley remains a close second to Bell, as there are a bunch of questions regarding the wide receivers with the exception of DeAndre Hopkins, who has been as consistent as they come. If you made it to the final game with Jones like I did, you are likely as worried as I am. You have to play him, but there isn’t much faith in him at the moment.
I will be tweaking these rankings up until the Saturday games get started. Don’t forget to set your lineups!
