Houston Texans Are Waiving A Wide Receiver This Tuesday

The Houston Texans are slimming down their roster on Tuesday after falling to the Las Vegas Raiders 38-20 in Week 7.

In a move reported by ESPN's Field Yates this afternoon, the Texans have released wide receiver Tyler Johnson.

"The Texans have waived WR Tyler Johnson," Yates tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

Claimed off of waivers by Houston earlier this year, Johnson spent his first two NFL seasons with Tampa Bay after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He started three games for the Buccaneers in both 2020 and 2021, with the latter being his best season as a pro. The former Minnesota Golden Gopher tallied 36 receptions for 360 yards with Tampa Bay last season.

This season, unfortunately, hasn't been as productive for Johnson. In his seven games as a Texan, he's only been active for two and has played a total of 29 snaps with no receptions or targets.

The Houston Texans, now 1-4-1 on the season, will turn their attention to divisional rival Tennessee in Week 8.
