The NFL's break between halves is noticeably shorter than college football's
While NFL halftimes may not have the pomp and circumstance of their counterparts in college football, they still remain a vital time for fans to take a bathroom break, get more food, and check in on their fantasy teams.
So how long is the halftime in the NFL anyway?
For regular-season games, NFL halftime is 12 minutes. That's actually down from the 15-minute intermission the league used prior to 1990. And during the Super Bowl, you can expect a 30-minute break for the halftime show.
The NFL's halftime is far shorter's than college football's break, which comes in at 20 minutes. That's a major contributor to why professional games are shorter, on average, than college games by more than 10 mintues.
The NFL also has a shorter intermission than the NBA (15 minutes), soccer (15 minutes), NHL (17 minutes), or college basketball (20 minutes).
