The Jacksonville Jaguars released sixth-year running back Alfred Blue from its reserve/injured list, the team announced Monday.

Blue was signed to a one-year deal worth $250,000 in guarantees in April after spending five years with the Houston Texans. He established himself as the team's primary backup to running back Leonard Fournette early on in his time in Jacksonville, but an ankle sprain in August effectively ended his momentum.

Blue did not take a regular season snap for the Jaguars after he was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 1.

With Blue gone, the Jaguars running back depth will continue to consist of Fournette, Tyler Ervin and rookies Ryquell Armstead and Devin Ozigbo.

Blue is now eligible to sign with any team and is not subject to waivers since he is a veteran. He has rushed for 2,407 yards and eight touchdowns in his career, with a 3.6 career yard per carry average.
