Jets GM Joe Douglas: 'We're A Team Ready to Win!'
With the 2024 regular-season closing in, expectations are higher than ever for the New York Jets. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning and a retooled roster, the team is poised to make a playoff run for the first time since 2010.
While the fans are certainly expecting a lot from the team, the organization itself is anticipating some success as well. In a recent press conference, general manager Joe Douglas spoke about his expectations for the team in 2024.
"I feel like this is a team that's ready to win, and I feel that work that everybody's put in, staff, the football operations staff, coaching staff, players ... this has been a really good training camp," said Douglas. "Obviously, it's going to be a roller-coaster season, just like any other season. But again, it's a great group of people to take the journey with."
After a disappointing 2023 season derailed by injuries, the team is going to need a healthy, productive roster in order to compete. This likely starts with Rodgers, who tore his achilles on the team's first drive in Week 1 and missed the remainder of the season.
The Jets will also hope to see offseason acquisition Haason Reddick eventually take the field as well, as he has yet to join the team while he holds out in search of a new lucrative contract. Later on in the press conference, Douglas spoke about his desire for a resolution to the situation.
The team will begin their regular-season against the San Francisco 49ers for Monday Night Football on Sept. 8.
