The New York Jets received tough injury news this Tuesday morning. Starting right tackle Mekhi Becton is going to be out for the entire 2022 season.
Becton exited practice on Monday following the second play of the session. He had a clear limp and immediately removed his pads.
It was previously believed it was a minor injury and something Becton would be able to quickly recover from. However, it appears things have taken a turn for the worst.
Becton has suffered an avulsion fracture of the right knee; he's going to miss the entire 2022 season.
"#Jets OT Mekhi Becton has suffered an avulsion fracture of the right knee cap, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He’s seeing a surgeon tomorrow, but likely is out for the year. Brutal," said NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Another frustrating setback for the former first-round pick out of Louisville. Mekhi Becton missed the 2021 season with a serious knee injury, but recovered in time for training camp.
Now a week into the camp and Becton is once again on the road to recovery.
Hopefully Becton can rest, heal and be good to go in 2023.
