Two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Denzel Ward has missed the last two games for the Cleveland Browns with a concussion.
With questions swirling surrounding Ward's potential return in Week 8 against the Bengals, Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow spoke to the media this afternoon and shared his respect for the talented Cleveland cornerback.
"Whether it's a short hitch, a go-ball, a basic, an out route, there's nothing easy with Denzel. He's always going to be going to be in the picture and competing and trying to knock the ball away," Burrow said of Ward, according to Ben Baby Thursday.
The two certainly got to know each other last season, as Ward returned a Burrow interception 99 yards for a touchdown in a Browns' victory over the Bengals in 2021.
Ward has 11 interceptions and 56 passes defended in his NFL career and has become a cornerstone in the Browns' secondary.
If Ward is able to return against Burrow and the Bengals in Week 8, he won't have to cover Ja'Marr Chase, who was ruled out of this week's game and potentially several more this afternoon with a hip injury.
The 2-5 Cleveland Browns will square off with the 4-3 Bengals on Monday Night Football.
