Chiefs Welcome Star Back to Lineup vs. Raiders
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to host the Las Vegas Raiders at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in a highly anticipated Black Friday showdown. Coming off a dramatic 30-27 victory over the Carolina Panthers, the Chiefs, now 10-1, aim to solidify their dominance in the AFC West.
This week’s matchup, however, carries extra intrigue as Kansas City officially welcomes back star running back Isiah Pacheco.
In Week 12, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a thrilling win, scrambling 33 yards in the final seconds to set up a 31-yard game-winning field goal. Mahomes completed 27 of 37 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns, while also contributing 60 rushing yards. Yet, Kansas City’s offensive potential now rises further with Pacheco’s return from injured reserve.
The 25-year-old Pacheco has been sidelined since breaking his fibula in Week 2 against the Bengals. Despite missing two months, the explosive back has been cleared to play after practicing fully, being removed from the injury report, and is expected to play in the matchup against the Raiders.
Known for his surprising ascent as a seventh-round pick, Pacheco has already contributed to two Super Bowl-winning seasons, amassing 830 rushing yards in 2022 and 935 yards in 2023 despite playing fewer games.
Pacheco’s return could energize the Chiefs’ ground game, but his role may face competition. Kareem Hunt, who filled in during Pacheco’s absence, leads the team with 577 rushing yards and has solidified his place in the offense. Still, Kansas City’s dynamic attack now has even greater versatility as they prepare to face a Raiders defense that has struggled against the run.
A win would maintain Kansas City’s momentum while showcasing their full offensive arsenal. With Pacheco back in the fold, the Chiefs aim to continue their push toward postseason dominance, and his impact could be critical in setting the tone for an offense that has been one of the most consistent in the NFL.
Adding Pacheco’s explosiveness to Mahomes’ brilliance gives Kansas City an even more balanced attack heading into this divisional showdown.
