Last month, we had the NFL headquarters in Manhattan be the site of a shooting, and now, we have come to learn that Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had a bullet shot through his office window back in May of 2024.
Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reported that Reid was inside his office at the time the bullet flew through, but was not injured, with the bullet being roughly 15 feet from Reid at the time of it coming through the window.
It is now worth noting that Reid, per McDowell, now has bulletproof glass installed around his office, because, of course, right?
It does seem a little strange that we haven’t heard much about this incident, which would have been league-wide news, until now, so we aren’t too sure why it was kept under wraps for so long, and coming out now.
According to the report, per McDowell and The Kansas City Star, the incident took place just after midnight on May 4, and there were two other bullets that hit the facility, one above Reid’s office, the other hit an outside air-conditioner unit, according to McDowell’s sources.
The investigation is still ongoing, and with the Chiefs being the gold standard in the NFL for the past half a decade, it does make this incident scary, given how close it was to Reid, who was inside his office at the time.
We aren’t sure what the next steps will be here, but the fact it happened 15 months ago, and still nothing has happened in the investigation, isn’t a good sign.
