Chiefs Patrick Mahomes Issues New Scouting Report on 'Confident' Xavier Worthy

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is liking what rookie receiver Xavier Worthy is doing on the field lately.

It appears that Kansas City Chiefs rookie receiver Xavier Worthy is finally starting to figure out this NFL thing, and Patrick Mahomes has taken note.

With Worthy seen as a cog in the Chiefs' offensive machine over the last month, he has developed into quite the weapon for Mahomes and, with each passing week, seems to be more settled in Andy Reid's offense.

The chemistry between him and Mahomes is also evident, with the pair now connecting regularly, and the three-time Super Bowl champ thinks it's down to one thing - confidence.

“He's getting better and better, I think he's just playing with more confidence,” Mahomes said of Worthy in a sort of new scouting report. “I think it really started in Buffalo, and it's getting bigger as we went throughout the rest of this year. I think those deep passes and really show off his skill doing that, he's getting open, so just trying to hit him on some of those. But he's showing his versatility and how he's able to work underneath, catch the ball, get yards after catch. I think he's going to continue to get better, which is going to help us going into the postseason.”

With Worthy's blazing speed, it could be expected that Mahomes has connected with some long bombs this season, but there's only been one between the pair: a 54-yard reception against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4.

Over the last month, Worthy has been as consistent as the coaching staff would have hoped for, with receiving totals of 61, 46, 54, and 41 while having at least four recpetions in each game for good measure.

So, the speed merchant is beginning to find his feet in the league, and that bodes well for the Chiefs moving forward. But defenses? Not so much.
