Chiefs TE Travis Kelce's Priceless Response To Game-Winning Field Goal
It took every last second, but Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs walked out of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night with a 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, the Chiefs are AFC West champions once again.
Patrick Mahomes helped lead Kansas City on a game-winning drive, including a clutch third-down conversion to Kelce that allowed the offense to wind down the clock.
As time expired, kicker Matthew Wright — in his second game with the team — doinked in a 31-yard field goal off the left upright, securing the Chiefs' 12th win of the 2024 NFL season.
After the game, Kelce spoke to the media for an interview. When asked what he thought about Wright's walk-off kick, the 12th-year tight end had the perfect four-word response.
"Bank's open on Sundays," Kelce said.
Kelce finished the night with five catches for 45 yards. His girlfriend, Taylor Swift, was not in attendance for the first time at a Chiefs home game this season. She was performing in her final show of the "Eras Tour" in Vancouver, Canada.
Kansas City only managed one touchdown throughout the win as Mahomes hit wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for a nine-yard score late in the second quarter, giving the Chiefs a 13-0 advantage.
But the Chargers were able to storm back and take the lead late in the third quarter before the two kickers went back and forth with field goals in the fourth.
Wright finished the night a perfect 4-for-4 on his field-goal attempts, guiding the Chiefs to a 12-1 record. They will head to Cleveland in Week 15 to take on the Browns.
