NFL Team Urged to Hire Deion Sanders After Firing Head Coach
After Antonio Pierce was able to give his Monday press conference following the end of the Las Vegas Raiders' season, it seemed like he could have a chance to retain his job as head coach. However, the team had other ideas.
The Raiders announced on Tuesday that they've decided to part ways with Pierce after just one season in the full-time role. This is the second coach the team has fired in two years, and they will be launching another full search.
While many are linking names like Mike Vrabel to the job, owner Mark Davis has proven he's not afraid to take big swings.
There would be no bigger swing than Colorado head coach Deion Sanders. The Hall of Famer has helped turn the Buffaloes into a very good program, which has led to speculation that he could coach in the NFL at some point.
With the Raiders having a need at quarterback and his son Shedeur Sanders in this class, there might not be a better opportunity for the coach to make the leap. Many fans and pundits think it's destined to happen.
"The Raiders should hire Deion Sanders and do whatever it takes to get from No. 6 to No. 2 with the Browns to take Shedeur," Fantasy Life's Thor Nystrom wrote on X.
"Say hello to the next coach of the Raiders, Deion Sanders!" a commenter wrote in response to the Pierce news on X.
"Saw this coming. Why do I feel Deion Sanders is going to try to get the Raiders to take his son in the draft and hire him as coach?" another commenter wrote.
"I'm all in on Deion Sanders becoming the next head coach for the Raiders and drafting Shedeur Sanders at QB," one commenter wrote.
Even former NFL quarterback Matt Leinart is getting into the idea.
"Coach Prime to the Raiders…… who says no?" Leinart wrote on X.
Time will tell if Sanders even has an interest in coaching at the NFL level. If he does, the Raiders could be the top team to watch.
