Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came back from a 16-3 fourth quarter deficit last night to defeat the New Orleans Saints 17-16 on Monday Night Football.
Despite yesterday's improbable win - their third in the past four games - Fox Sports' Colin Cowherd doesn't believe Brady is enjoying his time in Tampa Bay this season.
Speaking on his show The Herd earlier today, Cowherd claimed that "Tom Brady is no longer tired of football, he's tired of Tampa Bay... you can't help but watch Brady last night and think about the San Francisco 49ers next season."
Cowherd continued by saying that "Tom Brady looks like every person watching or listening to this show who is leaving a company in about three months. The company doesn't know it, you know it, and you're just putting in the minimum work."
While whispers of Brady to the 49ers in 2023 began weeks ago - in part because of Cowherd - Jimmy Garoppolo's recent season-ending injury has only intensified the rumors.
Rookie seventh-round pick Brock Purdy filled in for the injured Garoppolo last week, but, according to Cowherd, he shouldn't be the 49ers answer at quarterback next season.
"Brock Purdy, I think he's the answer now," said Cowherd. "But next year, big picture, last guy taken in the draft, 'Mr. Irrelevant', probably not the future for Kyle Shanahan... I don't think he's going to go equipped with Josh Purdy."
That wasn't a typo - Cowherd actually called the 2022 draft's 'Mr. Irrelevant' by the wrong name.
Whether this was done intentionally to prove his point about Brady is unclear, but Cowherd seems to truly think that there's a good chance 'TB12' ends up a 49er next season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 6-6, will travel to San Francisco in Week 14 to take on the 49ers in a matchup certain to generate a ton of headlines.
